Dong Seoul Korea Restaurant

For Korean food lover, this is definitely a recommended place you must go for. This korean restaurant named dong seoul korean restaurant. The design and decoration in this restaurant are simple and comfortable, which make you feel the cuisine of korean once you step into this restaurant!! The table design is just exactly same as the korean style, which you are required to sit on the floor to enjoy the meal (which you see from the korean drama).

For it's food, I will recommend that it's better for a group of friends to chill out together, as it is really big portion it will serve. More that what you have imagine. As observe from the situation during the day, I will recommend 4-6 person per table as it is just sufficient and nice. The tasty and delicious food that I wanna recommend is their "fried dong hoon". You will never have any chance to taste such funny , tricky and delicious food in your life, as there is no way that it can be cook in such a way except in korean restaurant. Since I tried out in this restaurant, it totally change my mind and concept towards "dong hoon". It is a kind of noodle , transparent in color, and need be soak in water to make it soft before can be cook and serve. The tenderness and simple ingredient that cook together with it will gave you surprise for every bite you take.

Fried Dong Hoon

As for korean cuisine, bbq meat is a necessary to be presence on any dish they serve on the table, so as to immerse in such situation, I also ordered the pork which marinated before hand.

For any meat that you ordered, they will all come with side dish. After a rough count, there is estimately 11 side dish they serve. There is really plenty as it totally occupied your table!! One of the benefit that you can gain from this restaurant is that all the side dish are free to top up, which means there is no worry for you to charge for additional side dish!!

After the end of your meal, the kindest boss will serve with a korean traditional drinks. Basically I have no idea what drink is that, but after i drank it, it kinda taste like similar with "barley" juice. However, it is actually made by rice. It is really match well after you had a feast. It makes you feel comfortable as this drinks is slightly sweet in taste, but make you just feel nice and good at the moment.

Johor Bahru Traditional Bakery

Small well-known bakery

Nowadays, it is hard to find a traditional bakery. Well, Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscult Factory is a good example for traditional bakery. This famous bakery located near city square, so it has attracted a lot of Singaporean tourists in addition of local people. The bakery opens at the morning and sold out at afternoon. And it closes at Sunday.

What make this bakery so special? Well, it is due to their traditional baking method. Once you step in the shop, you will see a big brick built, wood fire used old style oven. This bakery has been established since 1919 and the owner insists to use this traditional oven to bake the fragrant breads and cakes. You can see a warm picture from this family business: all three generations are busy to make the breads and cakes. This hand made cakes and breads plus the old style oven produce a quality food and good reputation. A lot of tv shows and news paper had visit this bakery.

Brick-built, wood fire used oven. The empty trays shown how much breads and cakes they have done for half day.

If you wanna find certain flavour bread, you have to ask the salesman there. I can't read the label on it.

The wall was full of  the articles which reported this bakery's  glory history.

The most popular bread is their coconut bun. While you eating the bun, you can smell there that is slightly charcoal smell, I think this is attributed by the oven. The coconut bun consists of fresh coconut shreds which has acceptable sweetness. It won't be too sweet and the bun is just fluffy. If really want to find out the flaw, I think the coconut shreds can be put more.

Another popular cake is the banana cake! A lot of people will come here and buy their banana cake. The responds and comments are good.

Besides, there are selling peanut bun ( for me, it is normal only), butter bun, otak, kaya, custard, sausage, red bean, curry potato and so on. The bun normally is RM3. One pack consist of 5 buns and it depends on the flavor. The banana cake is RM8.

The opposite shop is a chinese traditional cafe. It is well-known too. So bring your bread and cake go there to have cup of coffee!

Che Go korean BBQ restaurant @ Tebrau Jusco

Che Go Korean BBQ Restaurant located at Tebrau Jusco, Johor Bahru. It was my first time to be there. Recently, have the urge to have korean food. I was being attracted deeply by it.

This restaurant was not so crowded at the afternoon time. Beside the BBQ, there was other dishes such as steamboat, snacks, rice in the stone bowl and etc.The environment was still ok. I like the that kind of seating  which was sitting on the floor while your legs can put inside a hole under the table.

We ordered the set meal which includes their trademark grill beef, 6 side dish, fruit, one bowl of Kimchi soup and 2 bowl of rices. This set costed RM68. The meal was delivered in awhile time and the waiter was helping us to BBQ the beef. When he was cooking, the smell of the beef made our saliva lost of control and flooded our mouths. The beef was grilled with the onion, corn, pepper and enoki mushroom. The beef was just well-cooked and tenderness. We  enrolled the beef, onion, kimchi and the paste with the salad and ate. The beef was so sweet and nice! It made us can't stop to eat it.

Talk about the side dishes, these were kimchi, guava, fish cake, celery, finger ladies and fruit salad. The guava was sweet and tasty. Beside the kimchi and guava, other side dishes need to be improved..The kimchi soup was not spicy and it made me frowned and disappointed. The fruit served was 4 slides of watermelon and it was pale and  not sweet.

Side dishes were allow to refill. The salad was too less and small so we refilled for several times.

Overall, the beef was really marvelous! The side dish and kimchi soup were normal only.
